Emerging Speech Therapy Services offers a range of pediatric therapy services, including speech and language therapy for late talkers and children with developmental delays. We also provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) for children needing a functional and effective mean of communication. Our feeding therapy is perfect for picky eaters and children with concerns, while our reading intervention services help those who are learning to read or difficulties with reading. All of our services are delivered using fun, play-based intervention strategies.

Services
Therapy services are provided 1 to 1 unless you are attending or have requested a group setting!

Comprehensive Evaluation
Comprehensive evaluations are the first step to starting therapy. The SLP will complete formal standard assessments which will help provide a great starting point for therapy goals.

Consultations & family training
Not sure if your child is meeting developmental milestones? Not sure if therapy is right for you? Contact us we are happy to help!
Parent training is also offered to help parents and caregivers with implementing appropriate learning opportunities within your home.

Speech & language Therapy
Is your child not yet using words? Not yet speaking in complete sentences? Difficult to understand or have difficulties appropriately expressing themselves? Emerging Speech Therapy can help support them as they work towards learning and using appropriate speech sounds, language concepts and social skills.

Augmentative &Alternative Communication
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) refers to methods of communication that does not involve a person's spoken voice. AAC can range from low tech communication boards, sign language, use of gestures to high tech devices with speech output.

Feeding Therapy
Pediatric feeding concerns such as seeking to increase oral intake, food aversions, strengthening oral motor muscles and more are addressed in individual feeding therapy. Feeding therapy typically takes places during a mealtime.

Literacy support
Is your child showing difficulties with early reading or writing? Literacy support services help identify areas of weakness while providing a fun learning experience. We pride ourselves on reducing frustrations and increasing overall confidence.

Social Play groups
Social interactions are a huge part of how we learn language. Social play groups with emerging speech therapy are designed to promote appropriate play, social, and communication skills such as: turn taking, imaginative play, attention to tasks, problem solving, new vocabulary and more!

Meet your Therapist
Ra'Shaundria Kanu (Mrs. K) is a passionate ASHA certified CCC-SLP. She treats pediatric speech and language disorders with special interests in Augmentative and Alternative Communications (AAC), articulation, language and reading interventions. Mrs. K completed her undergraduate studies at The University of West Georgia and her master's coursework with New York University. She has a special interest in working with the pediatric population. She has gained valuable experience as an SLP working in in the school system, virtually and in private practice. In her free time, Mrs. K enjoys crafting, shopping, and spending time with her family.
